Chapter 14: The confession

Jaein wasn't even able to foresee it coming...

When her head popped out from the water surface, the first thing she knew was her face was being pulled forward...

Right into Jaejoong's...

And he pressed his warm lips hard against her cold ones...

Jaein's eyes widened in surprise and struggled to push Jaejoong away but his grip was very strong on her. After a round of strenuous but futile struggling, Jaejoong finally let go of Jaein.

Jaein (angrily wiping her lips with the back of her hands): ARGHHHHHH!!!! KIM JAEJOONG!!!! MICHEOSEO???!!! (ARE YOU CRAZY???!!!) DON'T YOU HAVE ANY OTHER BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN TO PRANK ON ME AND MAKE MY LIFE MISERABLE??!!!!

Jaejoong stared hard into Jaein's eyes, hoping that she would understand why he kissed her, and how he felt. But an irritated Jaein just turned around and swam off. Away from him...

A desperate Jaejoong jumped into the pool and started walking clumsily towards Jaein, as he couldn't swim. Of course his clumsy state didn't bring him far before the pool depth dipped, and he was left struggling in the water.

Jaejoong (frantically): HEEEEEEEELPPPPPP!!!

Jaein heard him struggling in the water, and turned back to see him semi-drowning. She swam back to him and helped him back to the shallow area.

Jaein (frustratedly): Gwenchana? You can't swim?

Jaejoong (coughing and breathing hard, while nodding): Ye...

Jaein (slapping Jaejoong's back to help him gain his breathing cycle back): You ARE REALLY crazy... Fancy jumping into a pool when you can't....

Jaejoong interrupted Jaein by pulling her into his arms and hugging her tightly.

Jaejoong (pleadingly): Kajimal... Please don't go... Don't leave me... I don't wish to part with you...

Jaein was too shocked by his sudden hug and words to push him away.

Jaejoong (seeing no resistance from Jaein, continued his confession): Ms Jun... I think I... I... I've fallen in love... With you... Sarangheyo...

Jaein blinked her eyes repeatedly on hearing Jaejoong. She couldn't grasp how he could possibly be in love with her when he had been picking on her like she was his natural-born nemesis since day one in school. To her it was all like a major prank and joke that he was trying to plant on her. She knew that the moment she said yes to him, his face would change and start saying "GOTCHA!" to her heartlessly like the spoilt brat he is. But somewhere deep inside her heart, she did sense a change in him, especially when her hands were hurt. And he nursed her wounds so attentively...

Sensing no reaction from Jaein, after his explosive and shocking confession, Jaejoong pulled himself away from the hug to take a look at her. Jaein's face was serious and dark with brewing anger, mixed with confusion from his words.

Jaejoong (uncertainly): Ms Jun... I said... Sarangheyo... Will you stay? And not leave?

Jaein: Will you stop fooling around!!! It's not funny at all!!! Leave now... I don't want to see you again... Ever...

Jaein turned to swim back into the pool. Jaejoong ran clumsily after her. He just managed to grab her before the dip in the pool depth, and dragged her down together with him, as he struggled frantically yet again...

Jaejoong's thoughts: If I let her go now, she'll never come back again... I must not let go even if I drown...

Jaein got a shock when Jaejoong pulled her down together with him when he fell. She tried to struggle away from him, but he was struggling to keep his hold on her, as well as to go back up, as he was drowning. Water was going down his throat, and he was panicking, and yet he refused to let Jaein go...

In the chaos, Jaein couldn't even swim back up to the surface. So in order to calm Jaejoong down, so that she can regain control to save both of them, she grabbed him and pulled him towards her, and planting her lips over his, to calm and to prevent him from drinking anymore water.

Once Jaein kissed Jaejoong, he calmed down immediately, but his arms were still strongly grabbing onto her. They sank down to the bottom of the pool. Once Jaein could touch the bottom with her feet, she kicked hard to push both Jaejoong and herself back up to the water surface.

When they reached the surface, Jaein broke the kiss to take a deep breath before dragging Jaejoong back to the shallow end. Once Jaejoong could feel the ground on his feet, he grabbed Jaein and hugged her tightly from the back.

Jaejoong (panting heavily from his near drowning): Ms Jun... I'm not joking... It's not a prank... Miduhyo... (Trust me) Please... I really... really... love you...

Jaein's thoughts: If he's joking, he's really going ALL OUT... almost drowning twice... But knowing him, I don't think he's lying... Can it really be true that he likes me? But I'm 6 years his senior...

Jaein: You almost drowned both of us... For this prank... And... What's more... I'm older than you...

Jaejoong (determinedly): I don't care about your age... It doesn't matter in the face of love...

Jaein (trying to sound factually sound): But like you said before... I'm poor... And I'm ugly... We're too different... It's not possible...

Jaejoong (determinedly): I don't need you to have money or looks... I have them both... I just need you to be you... I just want you to be yourself... I just... I just love Jun Jaein as she is...

Jaein: You're CRAZY...

Jaejoong (turning Jaein around to face him): I don't know when it started, but I'm guessing that the very first time you grabbed me... I've already started feeling something for you... Cos you're the only person who's EVER gone against me in my entire life... Even Yunho and Junsu gives in to me all the time... I admit that I'm spoilt... But you're special... No matter how angry I was with you... I could never stay angry for long... I never took revenge on you the way I did on others... And I didn't seem to mind your touch at all despite being a complete cleanliness freak... Yes... You might think that I'm CRAZY... But you're the one who made me this way... Ms Jun... I'm CRAZY...

Jaejoong tilted Jaein's chin up so her face looked at him, and leaned in closer to her.

Jaejoong: For you...

He closed his eyes and leaned in to kiss her. Jaein's heart softened when he kissed her this time. This time she could feel how warm and soft his lips were against hers. He seemed to be putting his entire heart out into the kiss to prove to her how he felt about her. She could feel it. And her own hidden feelings for him were also sneaking out slowly...

She knew that it might not last long, or be enough for him, but she kissed him back with all her heart...

Love in the ice - Chapter 13

Chapter 13: It's time....

It was time...
Exams were over. Marking was done. Time for Jaein to leave the school and return to her old student life for a year before she graduates and becomes an official teacher.

She went in early to pack up her things, as well as to leave thank-you notes to Mr Shim, and the other teachers who had helped her during her internship at the school. The school was so quiet, as neither students nor teachers were around at that hour. It was too early for the rich kids to be in school. They all needed their beauty sleep.

Jaein strolled leisurely to take a last look at the classroom that she had spent most of her time in during her internship. Flashbacks of her first day up till her last lesson there rushed back to her in her mind. There was some reluctance to leave. She would miss the students here, despite them being spoilt brats and all.

She walked into the classroom and strolled around amongst the desks. She paused at Jaejoong's desk, and sat down. Running her fingers across his table, she recalled her numerous explosive encounters with him.

Jaein's thoughts: *sigh* I still don't understand why I feel regret and guilt towards you when you failed? When we're supposed to be like at loggerheads at each other... I don't understand what my mind is thinking anymore... But what I DO know, is that even though we're like natural-born nemeses, I don't think I can EVER forget you... At least not in this life...

She gathered her things and walked out of the classroom. She took one last look at the school's exterior before walking off to take a bus back to her cousins' house. They knew that she was leaving tomorrow, and they wanted to hold a party for her to see her off, but they had school. And Jaein had also asked them not to let anyone else know. Even their namja chingus. So they just had a private dinner with her the evening before, which was a Sunday.

When Jaein reached the house, her cousins had already left for school. She proceeded to pack her stuff and get ready for her departure tomorrow on Tuesday. When she was packing her things, she found Jaejoong's shirt under her bed. The one that she had been wearing with nothing underneath when she woke up in his bed. Then she remembered that she still had his jacket with her. The one that he had threw to her when the class pulled a prank on her and drenched her in water...

Jaein's thoughts: Better to get rid of any traces of him here... Or the girls might get suspicious...

She took the shirt and jacket out and brought them to the laundry room. After she put them into the washing machine to wash, she sat down beside the machine, staring into the soapy water splashing around in the machine.

Jaein's thoughts: I'd better leave these laundered and pressed before returning it to the cleanliness freak... But I don't think I want to see him again... Well... he might not want them back at all though... Heck... I'll just leave them in his mailbox... I don't care if he throws them away or burns them afterwards... I've already done my part...

With that in mind, she washed the clothes, spun dried them, and ironed them before folding them and placing them into a paper bag. She walked out to drop the bag into his mail box. Vick ran up to the gate when he saw her, and barked at her while wagging his tail happily. Jaein squatted down and patted Vick's head through the gate.

Jaein: Mianeyo Vick... I'm leaving tomorrow... I've come to say goodbye... Thanks for taking care of Snowball for me... I'll miss you... Snowball will too...

Vick murmured sadly, as if he knew that Jaein was going to leave, and he was sad to see her leave.

Jaein (sadly): Mianeyo... but I don't think we'll see each other again... mianeyo... it's goodbye... forever...

Jaein's thoughts: Cos I don't think I wish to see your owner ever again...

Jaein got up and rushed back into her house. She could hear Vick whimpering sadly when she did. She blinked back the tears that were threatening to overflow from her eyes, and got back to her packing. Soon it was evening, and the girls came back from school. They had a nice dinner with Jaein, and spent some time chitchatting till 10pm, and the girls were too tired to carry on. They retired for the night, and bid their final goodbyes to Jaein, as she would be leaving early tomorrow morning.

Yining: Bye cous... promise to visit us soon okay?

Yiting: Yeah... Or we'd have to go kidnap you from your apartment to come here for a visit...

Jaein (giggling): Yeah I know... I'll try to visit soon... it's just that university last year will be quite hectic... but I'll try...

The trio hugged each other and retired for the night.

Late night... Jaejoong's room...

Jaejoong tossed and turned in his bed. He was having trouble sleeping. In fact he was having trouble concentrating the whole day.

In school, he couldn't help but notice that Jaein wasn't in class anymore. And it was back to the annoying MALE teacher to take over all her classes. No one mentioned anything about her being sick or anything like that. And her hands SHOULD have already healed by now. Why wasn't she coming to her classes anymore?

He needed to know. So he pretended to slip into the teachers' office to drop off his assignment, in hope of stealing a peak at Jaein, or just to see if she was alright. But he noticed that her table was cleared of all her things, as if there was no sign that she had ever been here before.

Jaejoong pretended that he needed to ask Jaein some questions on the subject, and asked another teacher about her whereabouts. Only then did he know that her internship was over, and she had already left the school, and won't be back anymore.

That was when it hit him. That he would never see her again...

Jaejoong got out of his bed and stepped out into the balcony. He looked over to the girls' house. Jaein's room to be exact. Her lights were off.

Jaejoong's thoughts: Did you know that I wanted so much to kiss you on several occasions? *sigh* Are you asleep now? Or are you enjoying the cool night breeze outside with the girls now? Partying away... So happy to be free from ever seeing me again... So happy... that... you're leaving... without... saying... goodbye...

Jaejoong looked away sadly, and something caught his eyes...

Girls' house...

Jaein was having trouble sleeping, so she decided to take a dip in the pool. She was swimming laps around the pool. When she emerged at the end near the gate, she was shocked to see Jaejoong squatting in front of her.

Jaein (almost letting out a scream from shock, backing away from him and back into the pool): WHAT are you doing here??!!! HOW did you get in???!!! Are you trying to scare me to death?

Jaejoong (nonchalantly): I have my reasons for doing this... You're an irresponsible teacher... Why didn't you come to school today? Classes are still on you know...

Jaein (shaking her head in disbelief): It's none of your business...

Jaein turned to head back to her swimming. Jaejoong was pissed by her, as she was ignoring him, when he was genuinely trying to talk to her. He ran over to the other end of the pool to wait for her. When Jaein emerged again this time, he grabbed her by her shoulders.

Jaejoong (angrily): ANSWER ME!!! WHY DID YOU LEAVE WITHOUT REASON??!!! YOU... IRRESPONSIBLE WOMAN!!!

Jaein (struggling to get away from his grasp): It's none of your business... I've already left the school. Isn't that what you want since day 1? We won't have to EVER see each other EVER again. What more do you want from me?

Jaejoong took a deep breath, and tried to calm himself down. He knew that he needed to let her know how he felt about her, or she would leave him and he would never see her again.

Jaejoong: We need to talk...

Jaein: I have nothing to say to you...

Jaejoong: But I do...

Jaein: I'm not interested...

Jaejoong: You don't have a choice...

Jaein: Yes I do!!!

Jaein pushed Jaejoong's hands away from her with all her might, and went back to swimming. Jaejoong was exasperated. She was refusing to listen to him, and he needed to let her hear what he had to say. Desperately.

Jaein was swimming as fast as she could away from the side where Jaejoong was at to the other end, so that he wouldn't be able to get to the other end in time to pester her.

She swam so fast, till she was quite breathless when she reached the other end, and when she came up abruptly for a breather...

Love in the ice - Chapter 12

Chapter 12: Misunderstood...

Marking break...

It was marking break, and the students all had a week off for the teachers to do the marking. Needless to say, Jaejoong, Yunho, Junsu, Yining and Yiting too were on break. And Yining and Yiting, seeing their cousin Jaein slave so hard over the exam paper marking, bought a golden retriever puppy for her to cheer her up.

Jaein was ecstatic since she loved dogs, and golden retrievers were her favourite breed in the entire world. She fussed over the puppy whenever she had time on her hands, and she named it Snowball as it had very fluffy fur that was close to white snow...

One day Jaein had just finished marking an absolutely mind-boggling stack of Mathematics papers and she was looking for her new puppy Snowball, but it was nowhere to be found...

Jaein: Snowball... baby where are you? SNOOOOWBAAAAALL..... eodiseo???? Snowball agiya....

Jaein looked all around the house. It was not in any of its usual spots. She was getting a bit worried, as Yining and Yiting were out of the house, and there was no one around. Where could Snowball be?

She worriedly went out of the house to search for her beloved puppy.

She searched the garden.

Nothing.

The pool.

Nothing.

The sandbox.

Nothing.

She rushed to the front gate to check.

The front gate was open.

Jaein: SHIT!!! WHO LEFT THE FRONT GATE OPEN??!!!

Jaein dashed out of the front gate, frantically shouting and turning here and there, eyes searching desperately everywhere for a spot of white fur that could tell her where Snowball was...

Nothing.

She closed the gate and ran cluelessly around the roads, shouting worriedly for Snowball.

Jaein's thoughts: Please be alright... you're the only thing I have now... Don't let anything happen to you please... please.... let Snowball be safe...

The next thing she know, she heard a puppy's yelping in the nearby park. She ran towards it immediately, as fast as her legs could bring her.

She saw Snowball nearby one of the park benches...

IN BETWEEN VICK'S HUGE JAWS!!!!

Jaein (screaming in tears, as she ran towards the two dogs): NOOOOO!!!! VIIIIIIICK!!!!! LET SNOWBALL GO!!!! DON'T HURT HIM!!!!!

Jaein threw herself onto the ground before Vick, and placed her hands on Vick's jaw, trying to pry them off Snowball's body. A pair of strong hands grabbed her hands and pulled her away from Vick and Snowball. She struggled with all her might to get back to Vick, and to pry those jaws off Snowball...

Jaein (screaming hysterically with tears in her eyes): LET GO OF ME!!! I"VE TO SAVE SNOWBALL!!!! SNOWBALL!!!!!

With tears blurring her vision, and her body's strength diminishing with her growing despair that she won't be able to save her beloved puppy. She heard a voice cutting through her muddled mind...

Jaejoong (sternly): MS JUN!!!! GET A GRIP!!!! SNOWBALL'S FINE!!!! YOU'RE SCARING BOTH THE DOGS!!!

Jaein stopped struggling when she heard Jaejoong's voice and looked up. Jaejoong's face was right above her head, and the sun shone past his head, temporarily blinding her eyes. Jaejoong was the one holding her back from the dogs. She turned to him and grabbed his
hands...

Jaein (pleadingly with tears in her eyes): Please... save Snowball... don't let... Vick... hurt.... him...

Jaejoong was taken aback by her sudden move, and he was blank and speechless. He stared at her blankly.

Jaein: Please... if you don't do something... Snowball's... gonna... die...

Jaejoong: What are you talking about? Snowball's fine...

Jaein: But... Vick was... Vick was... biting... Snowball.... How can... he be... fine?

Jaejoong sighed and pulled his hands away from hers, and walked over to Vick. Vick put down Snowball from its mouth and barked a friendly bark towards Jaejoong, before licking his face enthusiatically. Once Snowball was on its feet, it barked at Jaejoong and Vick happily, wagged its tail, and jumped happily at them both, joining Vick in licking Jaejoong's face.

Jaein (jaws dropping down and eyes widening in disbelief): How...???? I saw Vick biting Snowball with my own eyes... And Snowball was yelping...

Jaejoong turned towards Jaein and sighed in disbelief.

Jaejoong: I was walking Vick and he saw Snowball hiding under the park bench, so he got him out and was bringing him to me when you saw us. Vick was just gripping on Snowball's skin with his teeth, he isn't biting Snowball... Look... dogs don't have hands, they use their teeth to carry things around... Don't you EVER watch Animal Planet of National Geographic???!!! Even lions do these to their cubs, and they are fine...

Jaein's mouth was formed into a big O-shape from realisation. She had been such an idiot in her haste and desperate state, that she had lost all sense of reason. She looked over at the two dogs licking Jaejoong's face happily. Snowball most definitely wouldn't have been in ANY danger, or he wouldn't be playing SO happily with the two of them...

Jaein got up from the ground and walked over to Vick. Vick barked at her softly, acknowledging her presence. She kneed down before Vick and patted its fur softly.

Jaein (apologetically): Mianeyo... Vick... I thought... Silly me... I made a mistake... You were just saving Snowball... Mianeyo... and kamsa hamnida... for helping me find him... kamsa hamnida...

Jaein hugged Vick as her tears of joy and gratitude overflowed from the restraints of her eyes. Vick barked in response to her apology and hug, and when Jaein let go of Vick, it licked her face enthusiatically and happily. Seeing Jaein play with Vick, Snowball throttled over to them both and hopped onto Jaein's lap, jumping, trying to lick her face too. Jaein grabbed Snowball into her arms and gave both Vick and Snowball a kiss each, before hugging both of them together.

Jaein (smiling): Vick, kamsa hamnida for saving Snowball.... and... Snowball, kamsa hamnida for being safe.... Mianeyo for scaring both of you just now... mianeyo...

Jaejoong's thoughts (smiling slightly at the sight of reunion): This silly yeoja... can't even go through a day without some sort of dramatic mishap... or outburst...

Something on Vick's and Snowball's fur coat caught Jaejoong's eye, and immediately his eyes went to Jaein's hands. Her fingers were covered with blood...

He dashed forward and grabbed her hands into his, giving both dogs and Jaein a shock. He examined her hands, and realised that her fingers were pierced by Vick's razor sharp teeth when she tried to pry open its mouth just now, and they were bleeding profusely. Her hands were also covered in soil and mud from the ground. He pulled her up from the ground.

Jaein (in shock): What....

Before Jaein could say anything, he already had her in his arms, and was running with her in his arms back in the direction of their houses. Jaein shouted out for Snowball and Vick who were both looking at Jaejoong running away with Jaein in his arms.

Jaejoong (shouting urgently back at Vick): VICK, GET SNOWBALL AND FOLLOW ME BACK TO THE HOUSE!!!

Vick grabbed Snowball easily in his mouth and ran towards Jaejoong, catching up with him easily with its big and long legs.

Jaejoong ran back to his house, and immediately when he entered the gate, he shouted for his housekeeper to get the first aid kit, before placing Jaein down on the sofa gently. The housekeeper brought the first aid kit, and rushed off to get some hot water and towels to clean Jaein's wounds. Meanwhile, Jaejoong kneeled down in front of Jaein and was inspecting her hands. When the water arrived, he cleaned her hands gently, dabbing oh-so-lightly on her wounds. When her hands were clear of any soil or mud, the housekeeper went to change the water, and towel.

With the fresh hot water, Jaejoong poured in some disinfectant liquid, and cleaned her wounds again, before repeating the cleaning process with more disinfectant liquid. When he was satisfied that her wounds were clean, he started applying medication gently on her wounds, blowing on the wounds whenever the stinging medication was applied on the wound, and Jaein grasped in response to the stinging pain.

Vick and Snowball were sitting patiently looking at Jaein as Jaejoong worked on her wounds. Jaein didn't know what to do, so she found herself observing Jaejoong as he toiled over her wounds so attentively that he didn't even know that she was looking at him.

Jaein's thoughts: He looked so serious as he is tending to my wounds. And he is so gentle and attentive.... I can't believe that it's the same bratty kingka who bullies me in school....

Jaein was lost in her own thoughts staring at Jaejoong. Suddenly when he looked up, when he finished bandaging the wounds that Jaein was taken aback when he looked straight up at her. She looked away embarassedly.

Jaejoong: Are you done marking the papers already?

Jaein: Erm... no...

Jaejoong: Your fingers are all hurt... I don't think you can hold a pen or much less write for at least a few days...

Jaein: Well... I'll just have to do it... I have no choice... The papers are due by the end...

Jaejoong got up at that point in time, interupting Jaein, and walked off. Jaein took it as a cue for her to leave.

Jaein's thoughts: He can't be bothered with my affairs anyway... I am just a nuisance to him... Why am I even telling him at all???

Jaein got up too.

Jaein: Well... kamsa hamnida for helping... I'll take my leave first... miane for bothering you...

Jaein called for Snowball, and it followed her as she walked out of the house. Jaejoong turned and watched as they left, his mind deep in thought...

Same evening...

Jaein struggled to hold her red pen as she tried to mark more papers. She couldn't ask her cousins for help as they were students, she couldn't risk letting them mark the papers, as it would get her in trouble. Furthermore, even if she agreed to take the risk, they weren't around for her to ask them for help. They had gone on a short vacation with Yunho and Junsu for the week's break.

She struggled to hold the pen with both her palms, as her palms were the only place that wasn't hurt. She managed to mark a few papers into the wee hours of the night. She fell asleep on her desk...

Jaejoong was unable to sleep. He woke up and walked out to his balcony, he noticed Jaein's bedroom light still on.

Jaejoong's thoughts: She must be working through the night to mark more papers... Cos her injury is going to slow her down A LOT... And her cousins are out... no one can help her...

Next morning...

Jaein woke up to the sound of Snowball's barking. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hands sleepily. She took a look at the time, it was already 10am!!!

She stumbled to organise the mess on her desk. But there was none. The stacks of unmarked exam papers were all neatly piled a few metres away from her in the marked pile.

Jaein: Hhhhmmm.... did I manage to finish marking ALL of them???

She pondered, raking her brains. But Snowball's barking interuptted her again.

Jaein: Ah... nevermind... maybe I was too tired to remember that I did finish marking all of them... Or my fairy godmother is helping me....

Chapter 11: Exams

Next day in school...

Jaein didn't tell anyone (Yiting and Yining) anything about what happened last night. She didn't want them to be affected by what happened to her. They had such a good time with Yunho and Junsu yesterday, so she didn't want to spoil their mood or anything. So she kept her own embarassement to herself.

She dreaded the thought of having to go to class, and having to see Kim Jaejoong in class. She just didn't know how to face him after what happened last night. And how she woke up with him beside her bed in the morning. She had ABSOLUTELY NO idea what she might have said in her drunken state... It was embarassing... for a student to see her in that state... much less her very nemesis who detested her, and whom she detested so much since the start of school term...

But her sense of responsibility and fear for Mr Shim forced her to go to school still. Throughout her class, she kept looking elsewhere or at other students, mentally and physically skipping Jaejoong's face, even when she was taking attendance. She skipped recess and hid out in the staff room, for fear of meeting Jaejoong in the canteen. And once school was over, she raced off and hopped onto the first bus home. Jaejoong took the hint, and made himself invisible to her too, by keeping low profile in class, and going home later than usual. This dragged on till a month close to the end of the semester, where exams began...

First day of exams....

Before the exams started, Mr Shim called Jaein to his office.

Mr Shim: Ms Jun, how did you find teaching so far?

Jaein: Coping well, I think... The students are... (very rich spoilt brats)... a very interesting bunch...

Mr Shim: You do realise that exams means the end of term right?

Jaein: Yeah...

Mr Shim: And it also signifies...

Jaein's thoughts (loss in her own thoughts): End of my time here...

Mr Shim: ... the end of your attachment here... So after the exams finish... Cos we still need you to help invigilate and mark papers... You don't have to come here anymore... There's nothing else, you can go back to your invigilation now...

Jaein: Kamsa hamnida Mr Shim. I hope I didn't cause you too much inconvenience. I had a good time teaching here. Thank you for all your guidance.

Jaein bowed respectively and left the room.

Jaein's thoughts: I'm leaving when the term ends... Soon... *takes a long breath and exhales* I won't have to see him ever again... And hopefully no one will EVER hear of whatever nonsense that I've spouted to him when I was drunk that night...

Jaein took a deep breath and walked into her class with the papers in her arms. She gave out the papers and announced the start of the exam. While the class was working hard at answering the questions, she took time looking at each one of her students, trying to remember each and every one of their faces, all but one.

They haven't been the nicest class to her, but after an entire term together, she did feel a bond with them. There was a hint of regret in her heart, knowing that she had to leave them and probably never see any of them ever again.

Her eyes came reluctantly to the one that she had skipped earlier. In fact, she skipped his face in class eversince the aftermath of that night. He was having trouble with his paper, and his face was frowning, as he scratched the back of his head trying to make the answer materialise inside his blonde head...

Jaein looked away abruptly. Once she saw his face, it reminded her of what might have happened that night. And it made her burn with embarassement.

Jaein's thoughts (embarassed): He's probably the number one reason I feel very happy to leave this school... He hates me... I hate him... I hope I never see him ever again!!! Then that'll be the end of my nightmare... He's ALWAYS around at the wrong time... Witnessing me at my WORST... IDIOT KIM JAEJOONG!!!

*Ah chooo..*

A sneeze was heard in the classroom, and Jaein's eyes darted to the source of the sneeze. It was Jaejoong. Her eyes widened in surprise...

Jaein's thoughts: Don't tell me he's sneezing cos I was scolding him in my mind.... ha ha... if that's true... STUPID STUPID STUPID KIM JAEJOONG!!!!

Jaejoong sneezed another 3 times. Jaein bit her lip to prevent herself from laughing. She was having fun "torturing" him with just her mind. She scolded him in her mind a few more times, making him sneeze repeatedly. And in her mind, she was sniggering like mad.

*RIIIINNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG*

It was the bell, which also signified the end of the exam. Jaein looked worriedly over at Jaejoong. She was worried that he hadn't been able to finish his paper due to all the sneezing. But he seemed nonchalant about it. So Jaein hurriedly collected all the papers and brought them back to the staffroom. On the way, she searched for his paper and realised that he had not manage to finish the entire exam paper. There were still 2 questions left. She felt guilty, but there was nothing that she could do...

Jaein's thoughts (remorseful and worried): Oh no... I hope he manages to pass this... If not... He'd have to retake the subject... It's all my fault... Stupid... Can't I behave more like an adult? I'm older than him, and yet I behave so childishly...

After all the papers for all the exams were in, the teachers were delegated to mark the papers back in their own homes, and the students were given a week off. Jaein was marking the papers in her room one day when she realised that she was marking her class' papers, and it was the same one that Jaejoong didn't finish...

She searched frantically for his paper, and when she found it, she marked it quickly, and collated his marks.

Jaein's thoughts: Oh no... he... flunked marginally... shit...

She re-checked his paper, trying to see over and over again if she could squeeze a few more marks for him to pass. But it was impossible...
