Chapter 16: Aftermath


"JUN???!!!! What happened to Ning?" exclaimed Ting and Ying as Jun walked into the resort with Ning in his arms.

Jun walked into the room where everyone had gathered as a group laughing and joking with each other. The attention of the group was immediately drawn to the worried Jun when both Ting and Ying voices boomed the entire room. Immediately, both Ting and Ying rushed up to Jun to find out what was happening in the short span of time.

It was already dark when Jun and Ning returned back to the resort where the group had gathered. Nobody noticed the absence of Jun and Ning when they left the room. The group had so much fun playing cards and mahjong and having fun. The duo was missing from the group for almost the whole afternoon, but when they arrived the attention of the group was drawn to them.

"Ning was attacked by an ex-girlfriend of mine. She thought Ning was my present girlfriend and I broke up with Yuki because of Ning. I'm so sorry that such an unfortunate thing had happened to Ning," Jun said in a very sorrowful tone.

Upon hearing what Jun had just said, Milk rushed up towards Jun. Milk took the unconscious Ning away from Jun's arm. Then, a hard punch was swing at Jun's face by Milk. Milk was furious with Jun. He never expected such a thing to happen to Ning. He thought Jun was the right guy for Ning, the one who could protect her better than himself.

Everyone was shocked at what happened. Ting and Ying just stood there, unable to react at what had happened. All this time, Ying had known Milk to be someone who does not lose his temper easily, much more resort to violence at such a situation. Milk was the Mr. Nice guy that everyone could count on him to resolve any conflict for them.

Milk, then, walked away form the group, with Ning in his arms, walking towards Ning's room. Both Ting and Ying trailing behind him, stunned, and unable to register what had just happened.

After placing Ning back into her room to rest, Ting and Ying went up to question Milk.

"Milk, what were you trying to do just now? Why did you have to hit Jun. You've heard that what happened was all an accident. Nobody wanted this to happen, and I know Jun also didn't want such a thing to happen. It was terribly wrong of you to hit him."

"But... But... He was supposed to protect her. He was a man after all. A man protecting a girl was his duty, even though they are just friends. There was no reason that Ning should get involved in this struggle with his ex. She was so innocent".

"I know that my sis is innocent. But.. There was no need for you to hit him, Milk. Both Ying and I are worried for her too. And I know that you are also worried Milk. Besides, Jun was sorry about what had happened. It was not as if he pushed all the blame to that psycho."

"I know.... I know.... But.... But... Never mind. It's late now. Why don't you girls get some rest. I'll stay here to take care of Ning. It will be tiring if you girls stay up all night."

After finishing his sentence, Milk shoved the girls out of Ning's room. Milk moved a chair and placed it next to Ning's bed. He stared Ning. He thought that if he was there at the scene, Ning would not be hurt after all. Something inside his heart had changed. He realised that seeing Ning in such a state made his heart felt a pang of pain. The pain wasn't what you would feel if your siblings are injured. It was more than that. But, Milk just could not understand why. He didn't understand why all this had happened. He had always treated her as a little sister.

All this while, Jun was listening to the conversation happening inside the room. After hearing all these, he did not have the courage to enter Ning's room at all. He was guilt-stricken. He blamed himself for everything that had happened. All he could do was to sit outside the door and wait. Hoping that nothing happened, everything would be fine when Ning wake up the next morning.

"Ouch!!!! My whole body is aching!!!!! Why am i here?" Ning mumbled to herself.

"Ning!! You've woken up!!! I'm so worried about you..."Milk went on and on.......

"Where's Jun? Is he alright?" Ning interrupted Milk.

"He's fine. Why don't your worry about yourself first? If he was that sorry, he would at least come and visit last night after bringing you back to the resort. But, sorry to disappoint you, he didn't even drop by last night to check on you".

What??? Jun didn't even bother to drop by?? Maybe... Maybe.... What he did tell Yuki was true. I'm nothing to him but a friend. Nothing but a friend. Ning thought.

"Never mind about that, Milk. After all, he is reponsible enough to bring me back here. He is just a friend to me and I am a friend to him. Enough of all that. I'm hungry. Why don't we head down for breakfast and join the rest?"
