Chapter 18: Romantic but Painful Confession

The walk from the resort to the beach was filled with silence. Neither Jun nor Ning spoke a single word. Jun walked right in front of Ning, with Ning trailing right behind him. The both of them looked as though they were a master and servant walking with each other. Finally, they reached their destination- the beach.

"Jun, what do you have to say? I don't really have much time to spare, so could you be quick?" Ning said curtly.

"Ning. Why? Why do you have to act like this?"

"What do you mean by that? You wanted to tell me something, and i gave you a chance to. So, can please stop wasting my time. I need my rest."

"But, Ning..... Why did we end up like that? Why?"

The further probing of Jun had tugged something deep in Ning's heart. Something that she wanted to bury it deep inside. Something that she did not want to bring it up anymore.

"You want to know why. I'll tell you. We are just friends. So, friends should be like this. We are nothing else but friends right?"

Right after Ning said that word 'friends', tears started to rolled down her cheeks. Her feelings for Jun all came out at one go. She felt horrible, but she did not want Jun to see this side of her. She quickly wiped the tears off her face.

"Who told you that? You are a more than a friend to me. You are the...."

Before Jun could finish his sentence, "Stop it Jun!! Stop it!!! I get it now. Thanks for letting me know that."

Ning started to leave the beach, heading towards the resort. With every step she took, tears welled up in her eyes. Eventually, she could not hold back her tears. Hot tears started to flow down her cheeks. As tears started to pour down, she kept on reminding herself that she should give up all hopes on him. It was not right to torture herself in this manner. She deserved someone better. Someone who does not cause as much pain to her as Jun. Someone who would make her laugh and happy. Someone who would not break her heart in this manner. She told herself that she would forget Jun by the time this holiday end. She needed to do that quickly.

Jun ran as quickly as possible to catch up with Ning. He situated himself right in front of Ning, with both of his hands grabbing her arms. When he truned around to face Ning, Jun saw tears flowing from Ning's eyes. This scene that he saw hurt him deeply. He was supposed to proctect her, the person whom he loved deeply, the person whom he wanted to treat her like a princess.

Jun hugged Ning tightly in his arms. With one hand on her shoulder, grabbing her as tightly as he could, afraid that he would lose her. The other hand, placed on her head, stroking her hair gently, as though he was comforting her.

"Don't cry, Ning. Don't do this to me. It hurts me to see you in this state. I can bear to see you crying. Hush now. Don't cry. You are not just a friend to me, Ning. You are someone special. You mean a lot to me. I love you......."

Upon hearing these three magical words, it eased the pain in Ning's heart. She knew how he felt and he should also know who she felt too.

"I love you too, Jun. I'm sorry....."

Jun lifted Ning's head with his hands. With his fingers, he wiped away the tears from Ning's face. Gently, he planted a kiss on Ning's lips.

Being in the embrace of Jun had given a whole new feeling to Ning. Being so close, with his lips touching hers, the warmth of his body. It gave Ning a sense of joy and happiness.

Their lips parted and once again, Jun tighten his arms around Ning.
